Kauai Day 4

Waimea Canyon Day!

Here's Brandon, planning our next move.  Thank goodness for iPhones!  We would've been lost without them.
We had breakfast (and more delicious Hawaiian coffee) at the yummy Kalaheo Cafe.
Then headed up, up and up to visit Waimea Canyon, the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.

Beautiful views!  You'll have to enlarge these pictures to see all the colors!

It was 10-15 degrees cooler at 3400 feet, thus the hoody...
We got back in the car and drove a little further to the Kalalau Lookout.  Oh. My. Goodness!  Views of the Napali Coast and cliffs were breathtaking.  We were above the helicopters.  It was amazing.

This picture makes my stomach flip.  He looks like he's so close to the edge!
There was a trail that started from the lookout so we figured if the views were that spectacular from there, we might as well hike in a little farther!  We went to the car and changed our shoes and started on the hike.
Just look at this terrain!  Seriously? This hike was much more challenging than the hike to the falls. Brandon thinks he is Bear Grylls and I am SO not.  Another stretching, out of the box day for me.
The views were SO worth it!  We took so many pictures here.  Couldn't get enough.

After a protein bar picnic, we hiked the mile back to the car.
So rewarding!
We had lunch at the Kokee State Park lodge then started the long, twisting and turning drive down the mountain. We stopped in Poipu again and had some Papalani Gelato. Then, after cleaning up at the hotel headed out for dinner at Kauai Pasta.
