Hot as a Firecracker

We had a fun (but hot) Fourth of July. We're "lucky" enough to be living here while Houston is experiencing day after day of record breaking heat. I can't believe this was our third fourth here!
Saturday morning we got up and went to our neighborhood's Independence Day festivities. They had a bike/trike/wagon/stroller parade with prizes for the best decorated vehicle. On Friday night Brandon and I decorated Noah's favorite little push truck (that he has almost outgrown). We knew we weren't entering to win, we had so much fun.

We kept laughing in anticipation of Noah's reaction to his truck. He doesn't like anything out of sorts. He doesn't want blocks in his dump truck, no animals in his tractor trailer, no cargo in his train cars, etc. So we figured he'd give it one look and say, "no, no, no." But he didn't, he loved it. When we showed it to him, he said, "wowwwwwwww".He pushed and rode it all over the park, but didn't want to be in the parade with the big kids, so we just watched.
After the parade, Noah wanted to ride the train. I was really shocked he actually did it! He loved it, he thought it was Thomas.
Daddy and Noah on the train. The heat was miserable so we left after the train ride and headed for the pool, just what we needed!

That night we went to eat BBQ and fabulous peach cobbler at Spring Creek because (did I mention?) it was too hot to grill!

We watched fireworks at a local outdoor mall. Noah loved them. I watched him more than the fireworks. He wowed and ooohed and aaahed. He named the colors as they burst in the air, then he'd say, "it's big!"Watching fireworks with mommy.
When it was over, he wanted more, so even though it was WAY past bedtime, we went home and watched the Freedom over Texas fireworks that we had DVR'd. He danced to the music that accompanied the fireworks and finally crashed in to bed.
