Our Texas besties came to visit us a few weeks ago!
They drove all night and arrived on Saturday morning. This is Caroline and Bennett checking out the swingset before it was 136 degrees outside.
They came bearing goodies! Ooh La La cupcakes and HEB tortillas. The cupcakes didn't travel well, but they still tasted oh so good!
Saturday night we took them to Los Cabos on the river (since they don't have any Mexican restaurants in Houston!) Ha! We borrowed memaw and pappaw's 80's model Little Tikes table for the kids. The only problem, we couldn't strap them in and they wanted to roam around and/or sit with their daddies.
After church on Sunday, we took them to Oklahoma's own Hideaway Pizza. We got two pizzas 1/2 and 1/2 so we were able to try four different pizzas. Oh so good!
Sunday night we stopped at Bass Pro Shop to look around (hey, it was hard to find air conditioned activities on a Sunday evening!).
Then we headed out to our church's fourth of July picnic. Where the kids got to ride ponies...
...And trains
And listen to Bluegrass music.
Elli got to have her first snow cone! She loved it, of course.Noah had more than enough fireworks on the 1st so we promised him we wouldn't stay. He was so afraid they were going to start before we could leave. This picture shows the relief on his face. He finally agreed to ride a pony on our way out.
On the fourth, we went swimming at pappaw's golf course pool.Bennett and Erin
Caroline, Bennett and Brad...The night of the fourth, we just hung out at home and watched fireworks. The kids had fun riding through the neighbor's sprinkler. They said they were going through the car wash.
Caroline cruising on the neighbor's Harley.
Elli finally had enough. She headed in the house to go to bed.
Sparklers from last 4th of July!
Noah finally got brave enough to try.
The next day we went to the park for about two minutes until we melted. Then went to Ollie's for our train loving boys. It was the worst experience ever. After our waitress took our order, we overheard that the cook walked out. That's lovely. I guess he was the one and only because after that we waited and waited and waited for our food. Apparently the waitresses were trying to cook. Sounds safe, huh? Just when we were ready to cancel, the kids' food arrived. Everything looked tasty until poor Caroline bit in to her chicken, looked at it and it was RAW inside! We put some money down, explained to the waitress and bolted! I don't want to deter anyone from trying Ollie's, I'm sure they have a new cook now and everything is back to normal.
That evening they loaded up to head home. One last pic before they hit the road.
I think they were all a little delirious.
Silly face from Bennett. Sister girl was napping or she would've been all about silly-face-camera-time.
Such a good visit. We miss you, Lanes! I'm sure we could find Brad a coaching job up here, if you want to come back and stay! :)
